Where does Đạt Foods Sesame Oil come from? How do we process it?
Where does “Đạt Foods Sesame Oil” come from?
“Farming is hard work, my dear. Sesame seeds have people to buy or not. You see that my hometown is full of sisters who stay at home to grow crops, and young men go around looking for jobs to make ends meet”. Huong smiled and shared when asked about the sesame tree in her hometown.
Born in Quynh Luu, Nghe An, she, like many children of the Central region, had to go through a difficult life due to the harsh climate. The people here are mainly engaged in agriculture. They rotate crops from peanut, sesame and corn.
“Peanut are grown from November to about April, when we are about to harvest peanut, we will spread sesame seeds. When the peanut are harvested, the peanut stalks are left in the field, providing nutrients for the sesame seeds” Ms. Huong shared more about how to grow sesame in her hometown.
Sesame is a short-term plant, often used by farmers in rotation for about 90 days. Sesame seeds have a very high oil content, containing 45-54% liquid. Protein content accounts for 16 – 18%, in which there are enough essential amino acid contents without replacement. Sesame oil is high in energy, has a long shelf life, and is often used as a high-quality cooking oil. Understanding the stories of the farmers that Ms. Huong shared as well as the nutritional value of sesame seeds for customers, Đạt Foods chose this seed to share difficulties with farmers and bring nutritional products for everyone.
How do we process it?
Sesame seeds, after being harvested and cleaned by farmers, are transported to Đạt Foods’ factory in Cu Chi.
We store sesame seeds at a cool temperature (below 28 degrees Celsius) before pressing the oil.
In the process of oil pressing and heating (01 times) at a temperature below 180 degrees Celsius, the seeds are exposed for 3-4 seconds at this temperature, this helps to retain the original sesame oil flavor, eliminating microorganisms. Oil temperature 60 degrees Celsius, using this temperature only reduces less than 5% nutrition. The one-time heating also helps users to use sesame oil more times.
Sesame oil after pressing is stored to filter residue for 7 days. Đạt Foods does manual pressing and filtering to keep the original taste of sesame.
Tada! This is the finished product that everyone at Đạt Foods works together.
